Travel on the Side

OK, I didn’t get to see a lot of Dallas, but having lived in Texas before, I was familiar with the sites. I was visiting for a work conference and spent most of my time at the convention center. Located nearby is Pioneer Plaza, a great outdoor space with some amazingly lifelike cattle sculptures.

The Nasher Sculpture Center, located across the street from the Dallas Museum of Art in the arts district of Dallas, Texas features a great collection of modern and contemporary sculpture. It’s a nice green space to escape the hub-bub of Dallas streets.

Ventured a bit further from the traditional tourist area in New Orleans. This time to City Park. The park is home to the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. It’s easy to get to. Just board the Canal Street streetcar in the CBD/French Quarter bound for “City Park.” For more photos, check out my New Orleans Flickr album.

In downtown Des Moines for a meeting. During lunchtime, I walked down to the Pappajohn Sculpture Park for a look around on a rainy October day.
