Going west on Utah Highway 12 to/from Bryce Canyon National Park, you pass through Red Canyon, part of the Dixie National Forest. It’s worth pulling in to stop for a bit. Some beautiful scenery, hiking trails, and a popular paved biking trail. Below are some photos.

The Glacial Drumlin State Trail in Wisconsin runs from Waukesha (in the Milwaukee area) to Cottage Grove (near Madison) for some 50+ miles. Connecting with other trails, it’s possible to travel between Milwaukee and Madison. A state trail pass is required for biking and in-line skating. The Wiouwash State Trail in Wisconsin (the name is taken from the four counties it traverses: Winnebago, Outagmie, Waupaca, and Shawano) consists of two segments. I bike and hike on the southern segment in Outagamie and Winnebago counties, near Appleton. The trail here runs for 22 miles. A former railroad bed, it’s a nice, rural trail to explore and perfect for hiking and biking.

Surrounding the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is the beautiful Cofrin Memorial Arboretum, featuring several miles of hiking and biking trails. It’s perfect for any season, but summer is my favorite.
