Alaskan Cruise: Day at Sea

The previous day when we left Seattle, the weather was gorgeous: blue skies, sunshine, and around 83F/28C.
Ahh, but that was to change as we headed north! Woke up to overcast skies and 54F/12C. We were out on open water now. Today was a sea day. Being our first cruise, we weren’t sure what to expect.
First thing? Sleep in and have a leisurely breakfast. Check.
Then we explored the ship some more, attended the “Treasure Hunt” – visit various locations on the ship, get a stamp, and be entered to win prizes. I won a casino credit! We also attended an Alaskan photography lecture–a perfect session to prep us for our ports. We also tried our hand at trivia. Ouch…we didn’t do so well.
In the evening, we has reservations at the Crown Grill, one of Princess’ specialty restaurants. It was a $29 upcharge, but oh so worth it. Had pan-seared scallops, shrimp bisque, a perfectly cooked filet mignon, and a sampling of desserts. Highly recommended! Stuffed after dinner, we rolled ourselves down to the Princess Theater to watch a medley of 70s songs…fun!
So in the end, no worries about the Day at Sea. Plenty of activities to engage and entertain us!
