Green Lake, Wisconsin

Winter was mild in my part of Wisconsin. You’ll get no complaints from me. Spring has had its ups and downs temperature-wise. Last month I was up in Green Lake for a work conference–my first visit there.

Green Lake is a small resort town (pop. of around 1,000)  located about an hour and half from either Madison or Milwaukee. I was there before peak tourist season, so things were still a bit quiet. Green Lake is the deepest natural lake in Wisconsin (237 feet!).

Had a great stay at Heidel House Resort and Spa. Comfy hotel rooms, great views of the lake, and a nice conference facility. It’s evidently popular with weddings. One of the workers told me they had 68 weddings booked for the summer!

Because I was holed up in the hotel for a work conference, I didn’t get to venture out too much. Three places I can recommend for food are Goose Blind Grill and Bar in Green Lake for pub food, and Roadhouse Pizza and Knuth Brewing Company in nearby Ripon. Hope to make it up there again soon…looks like a nice place to relax!
