Washington DC: The Smithsonians

You could spend weeks touring the various Smithsonian Institution museums in Washington DC. We had 3 full days. What to do?

We tried to fit in a few of the highlights based on our interests:

Most are located along the National Mall and all are free.

Check the Smithsonian website as some collections might be under renovation or reconstruction. For example, we found most of the pop culture stuff at the American History Museum was undergoing renovation–although they had a few famous items on display (Dorothy’s ruby red slippers and the original Kermit the frog puppet).

The collections are really a national treasure, so plan your time wisely!

Check out pics below and for the full set of DC pics, go to my Flickr album.
