New York City: Late Show with David Letterman

Ready for my close-up? No, not really! One of the highlights of the trip to NYC was seeing a taping of David Letterman.
He’s always been one of my faves. In fact, we share the same alma mater – Ball State – in Muncie, Indiana. I even stayed in his dorm my sophomore year of college. There’s a plaque dedicated to all of the “C” students in his honor!
We were able to snare a couple of tickets in advance. Waiting in line at the appointed time at the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway, we somehow got magically seated third row center. Great view!
The theater actually seemed smaller than it does on TV. Letterman was great–warm and funny. And Paul Shaffer was his usual kooky self–and the music from the CBS Orchestra was excellent.
The big guest was Dana Carvey, and a younger actor from Melissa & Joey.
