Mackinac Bridge, Michigan

I’m back home in Wisconsin now. My dad passed away after a brief illness. After tending to things at my parents’ house, I decided to take the “long” way back to Wisconsin from Indiana. North to Interstate 75, across the Mackinac Bridge, west through the Upper Peninsula, and down to Wisconsin.
This was my dad’s favorite drive–especially the Mackinac Bridge. I think he would be proud. I spent the night in St. Ignace. After checking into the hotel, I crossed the bridge again to go back to Mackinaw City. I sat for a long time along the shore snapping photos. I had a beautiful display (I like to think my dad played a part in it!)–blue skies, a few rain clouds to cast some interesting shadows, and a sunset filled with ambers, reds, and purples.
I miss my dad a lot, but I’m glad I can still experience a few of his favorite things.
