Travel on the Side

Monthly Archives: October 2011

Had the day off of work so I ventured up to Door County, Wisconsin. Early October, a weekday, so not crowded at all. Felt like I had the outdoors to myself! I visited The Ridges Sanctuary, the first land trust in Wisconsin–and also ventured over to Cave Point County Park to do some hiking.

Got up early and drove to the Lake Michigan shore to catch the sunrise (around 6:50am Central time) at the Algoma Pierhead Light in Algoma in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin. A lone fisherman was out on the breakwater. A perfect, it bit chilly, start to the day!
