Autumn in New Hampshire

Ahh, autumn…my favorite time of year. And the place to be is New England. After a morning trip to Flume Gorge, I was off for some leaf-peeping.

First stop: Indian Head Resort, near Lincoln. They have a large (and rickety!) observation tower you can climb to get some good views of the area.

Then it was off to drive the Kancamagus Highway (aka “The Kanc”) – New Hampshire Route 112 – through the White Mountains. There are plenty of scenic vistas to pull in to along the way. I headed east until it brought me into Conway.

After that, I traveled north on New Hampshire Route 16/US Highway 302. Eventually the road splits into two. I headed west on US Highway 302 past the ski resorts, through Crawford Notch State Park and White Mountain National Forest, the Mount Washington Hotel, and Bretton Woods.

A great day for a scenic drive!
